Low Carbon Energy joins forces with Activ8 Energies to power the UK’s renewable future

13th August 2025

We’ve always believed that the path to a sustainable future is paved with collaboration, expertise, and innovation. Today, we’re proud to share the next chapter in our journey: we have joined forces with Ireland’s leading solar provider, Activ8 Energies, as part of their UK expansion strategy.

This partnership strengthens our ability to deliver large-scale solar PV and renewable energy solutions to more businesses, more quickly, and with greater resources behind us. While we’ll continue to operate as Low Carbon Energy with the same leadership, values, and commitment to quality, we now have the backing of Activ8’s extensive experience, resources, and strategic vision.

Why this matters for UK businesses

The commercial and industrial solar market is growing rapidly, and demand for secure, sustainable energy has never been greater. With energy-intensive industries under pressure to cut emissions and future-proof operations, access to high-quality, large-scale renewable installations is critical.

By combining our 16 years of UK expertise with Activ8’s 20-year track record in Ireland, we’re in an even stronger position to support businesses across manufacturing, logistics, retail, and infrastructure. Our collective portfolio already includes some of the most recognised names in the UK and beyond, from BMW and Tata Steel to Boeing, Co-op, and the NHS, and this new alliance will help us deliver even more ambitious projects.

The shared vision

Activ8’s work speaks for itself. They recently delivered a £3 million solar farm at Liverpool’s John Lennon Airport, which will soon provide 25% of the airport’s total electricity. Their focus on quality engineering, customer satisfaction, and large-scale renewable delivery mirrors our own ethos, making this a natural fit.

Together, our mission is clear:

  • Increase the scale and speed of commercial solar adoption in the UK
  • Support businesses in achieving Net Zero goals
  • Deliver measurable savings and energy security through innovative renewable solutions

Looking ahead

Benedict Ennis, Managing Director, will continue to lead Low Carbon Energy as Managing Director, with our founder, Ged Ennis, remaining as Non-Executive Director to provide strategic guidance. For our clients, it’s business as usual, only with an even greater capacity to deliver.

We’re already working on a strong pipeline of nationwide projects, and with Activ8’s support, our ability to help businesses cut costs, secure long-term energy stability, and reduce carbon emissions has never been stronger.

This is more than just a change in ownership. It’s a commitment to scaling renewable energy in the UK at a pace and level that meets the climate and economic challenges ahead.
